Motorcycle routes in Florida
10 routes. Each one starts at the foot of the good part; the "from" versions (NYC, Stamford, Edison, Allentown, Danbury, Hartford, Long Island) add the ride there and back.
Ormond Scenic Loop & Trail
37 mi · 1h 23m
The Ormond Scenic Loop & Trail from Daytona's Main Street: the route rides A1A and Granada to the Halifax River, follows Beach Street and Old Dixie Highway under the oaks past Tomoka State Park and the Dummett sugar mill ruins, takes Walter Boardman Lane and High Bridge Road, the curviest stretch, crosses the Halifax and comes back down John Anderson Drive before a last run north on A1A. It's 37 miles, flat and shaded. Bike Week (March 5-14, 2027) and Biketoberfest every October pack Daytona and Ormond.
Lower Keys · Marathon to Key West
49 mi · 1h 13m
The Lower Keys on US-1, one way: from Marathon the route crosses the Seven Mile Bridge, passes Bahia Honda State Park and Big Pine Key and ends at the Southernmost Point in Key West, at Mile Marker 0. It's 49 miles of water on both sides and no toll. FDOT is rehabilitating the Seven Mile Bridge until summer 2029, with single-lane closures on weeknights, so ride it by day. The bridge gets strong crosswinds, Key deer cross on Big Pine Key, and with one road in and out, a crash or a storm closes it all.
Upper Keys · Key Largo to Marathon
55 mi · 1h 16m
The Upper Keys on US-1, one way: from Key Largo the route rides south through Tavernier and Islamorada, past Anne's Beach, over the Channel 5 and Long Key bridges and on to Marathon. It's 55 miles of short and long bridges with water on both sides. US-1 has no toll; Card Sound Road, the other way in from the mainland, does, and this route doesn't use it. Expect crosswinds on the bridges, weekend traffic from Miami, and check FDOT for night lane closures on the Channel 5 and Long Key bridges.
Tamiami Trail · Everglades
62 mi · 1h 15m
The Tamiami Trail (US-41) across the Everglades, one way: from Krome Avenue the route rides west past Shark Valley, the Oasis Visitor Center in Big Cypress, the Kirby Storter and H.P. Williams boardwalks and the Ochopee post office, then turns south on SR-29 to Everglades City. It's 62 miles of sawgrass and cypress, flat and straight. Services are few: fuel at either end. It stays on US-41 and doesn't take Loop Road, which is partly dirt. Watch for wildlife on the road, and don't ride it at night.
Ocala National Forest
50 mi · 1h 02m
The Ocala National Forest, one way: from Umatilla the route rides SR-19 north, takes CR-445 to Alexander Springs, rejoins SR-19 past the SR-40 crossing to Salt Springs and ends at the bridge over the old Cross Florida Barge Canal. It's 50 miles of sand pine, lakes and springs. Salt Springs is the only fuel along the way. The forest's sand roads and off-road trails are not part of the route; watch for bears, deer and trucks on SR-19 and SR-40, and the springs charge to get in.
Sugarloaf Mountain
27 mi · 55 min
Florida's only real hills, in one loop from Clermont: the route rides CR-561 north along Lake Minneola, climbs Sugarloaf Mountain Road over the highest point on the Florida peninsula, follows CR-561A and CR-455 to Montverde and comes back on SR-50. It's 27 miles. Short stretches of US-27 and the run home on SR-50 are four-lane highway; the good part is in the middle. Road cyclists climb Sugarloaf in big groups on weekends, so weekday mornings are better, and watch for sand at the crossings.
Scenic Highway 30A
37 mi · 1h 18m
Scenic Highway 30A end to end: from Dune Allen the route rides east through Santa Rosa Beach, Blue Mountain, Grayton Beach, Seaside, WaterColor, Seagrove and Alys Beach to Rosemary Beach, then comes back west on US-98 through Point Washington State Forest. It's 37 miles of beach towns and coastal dune lakes, flat and slow. Hurricane Isaias came ashore near Destin on October 9, 2026; 30A is a county road, so check Walton County before you go. Expect cyclists, golf carts and bike-path crossings, and heavy traffic in summer.
Forgotten Coast · US-98
46 mi · 1h 01m
The Forgotten Coast on US-98, one way: from Port St. Joe the route crosses to Apalachicola, takes the John Gorrie bridge over the bay to Eastpoint and rides along the Gulf, with the water a few yards from the road, to Carrabelle. It's 46 miles, flat and with no toll. Expect crosswinds on the long bridges and long gaps between towns. Hurricane Isaias hit the Panhandle on October 9, 2026: check the state of the road before you go. St. George Island is a side trip, not part of the route.
A1A · St. Augustine to Flagler Beach
32 mi · 55 min
A1A from St. Augustine to Flagler Beach, one way: from the Castillo de San Marcos the route crosses the Bridge of Lions to Anastasia Island and rides south past Fort Matanzas, Matanzas Inlet, Marineland and Washington Oaks to the Flagler Beach pier. It's 32 miles of dunes and ocean, flat and with no toll. FDOT is replacing the St. Augustine seawall between the Bridge of Lions and Charlotte Street until fall 2027, with night lane closures. Downtown St. Augustine is slow, and Bike Week and Biketoberfest fill Flagler.
Old Florida Heritage Highway
43 mi · 1h 04m
The Old Florida Heritage Highway from Gainesville: the route crosses Paynes Prairie on US-441 to Micanopy, takes county roads through Evinston to Cross Creek, Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings country, and comes back north on CR-325 and Hawthorne Road. It's 43 miles of live oaks, prairie and lakes, flat and quiet. Watch for wildlife crossing US-441 on the prairie and for cyclists on weekends.
