If your recap map has a straight line cutting across the map — a rope between two points instead of the road you rode — that is a gap in the recording. Pack knew where you started and where you came back, and nothing in between.
It is almost always the background permission
Your phone stopped Pack while it was in your pocket. On Android that is the OEM battery manager; on iPhone it is the app being asleep. Fix it once and it stops happening:
- Android → do the three steps in Android: your dot freezes on the pack map.
- iPhone → set Location to Always and Precise.
How to tell before the next ride
Start a ride and check Settings at the bottom. During a live ride it should read GPS: always ✓ · task ON · background, and on Android the Pack — Live Ride notification should be sitting in your shade. If both of those are true, the recording is alive.
The ride is gone entirely
Check the bottom of Settings for a red DATA NOT SAVED card. That means the app tried to save something and the server refused it. Tap it, hit COPY, and send it to support@motopack.app — that copy contains exactly what failed and it is the only record of it.
Distance is measured from your own GPS on your own phone, not from the pack. If you rode it, your phone recorded it — as long as the phone let Pack run.
