From Allentown · Musconetcong River Road
This full-day version starts in Allentown. The first 49 miles go out on back roads, mostly CR-513, PA-212 and CR-519, to Oldwick, where the good part begins. The core stretch, Musconetcong River Road, runs 20 miles to Hampton.
The ride home is the quick way: 39 miles on I-78 and CR-632 back to Allentown. All in, it's about 108 miles and 3 hours in the saddle, before any stops for gas, food or photos. There's time to take it easy.
Full-day version that starts in Allentown: it adds the ride there and back to Musconetcong River Road. Here is what you'll find on the core stretch:
From Oldwick through Fairmount and Califon to the Musconetcong River, then River Road right along the water to Hampton. Back-to-back curves, a lane-and-a-half road and the river always in view: short, but one of the most fun rides in Hunterdon. For a small pack that wants curves without riding all day. Expect cyclists and almost no shoulder; ride single file on the narrow parts.
