MOTORCYCLE ROUTES IN SOUTH CAROLINA

Cherokee Foothills · Keowee & Jocassee

The lake half of the Cherokee Foothills Scenic Highway, one way: from Table Rock State Park the route follows SC-11 west past the Grant Meadow overlook and Keowee-Toxaway State Park, takes a short out-and-back spur to Devils Fork State Park on Lake Jocassee, and ends in Walhalla. It's 39 miles. This is a scenery road more than a curvy one, with RVs and boat trailers in summer. Devils Fork charges admission and gets long entry lines on weekends.

SC-11 is the Cherokee Foothills Scenic Highway, and its western half is the one with the lakes. From Table Rock State Park the route heads west past the Grant Meadow overlook, crosses the head of Lake Keowee and passes Keowee-Toxaway State Park, a park of rock outcrops with views of the lake and the foothills. This is a scenery road more than a curvy one, with long rolling stretches, and in summer it carries RVs and boat trailers.

Past Keowee the route takes a short out-and-back spur to Devils Fork State Park, the only public access to Lake Jocassee. The park charges $8 per adult, entry is free on Tuesdays, and on weekends and holidays the entry line gets long from late morning to afternoon. Back on SC-11, the route continues west through Salem and ends in Walhalla. Fuel is scarce along this part of SC-11.
